Intracoastal Waterway marks

On the Atlantic and Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, yellow symbols identify the ICW route.

When following the ICW conventional direction:

yellow triangle: keep to starboard

yellow square: keep to port

A yellow triangle or square can be mounted on an aid that also has ordinary red or green lateral significance.

For following the ICW route, the yellow symbol is the controlling ICW cue.

A plain yellow horizontal band identifies an aid as part of the ICW but does not itself provide lateral information.
