Western Rivers

The Western Rivers system has significant differences.

Among them:

buoys generally are not numbered in the same way as coastal lateral buoys

numbers shown on fixed aids can represent river mileage rather than lateral numbering

safe-water and isolated-danger marks are not used in the same way

river current and channel geometry make local chart and Light List information particularly important

Do not transfer a coastal "red even, green odd" quiz answer blindly to Western Rivers.
