Traffic Separation Schemes

Rule 10

When using an adopted traffic separation scheme:

proceed in the appropriate lane and general direction

keep clear of separation lines or zones where practicable

join or leave a lane at as small an angle as practicable

if crossing a traffic lane, cross as nearly as practicable at right angles to the general direction of traffic

A vessel under 20 m, sailing vessel or fishing vessel must not impede the safe passage of certain power-driven vessels following a traffic lane.

Rule 10 does not grant immunity from the remaining Navigation Rules.
