Constrained by draft

International Rules only

A power-driven vessel may be "constrained by her draft" when, because of its draft in relation to available depth and width of navigable water, it is severely restricted in its ability to deviate from the course it is following.

This status exists in the International Rules and is not an equivalent Inland Rule category.

Other vessels should avoid impeding the safe passage of a vessel exhibiting the constrained-by-draft signals where the International Rules apply.
