Use

Quick temporary attachment around a post, rail or spar.

Sequence

Pass the working end around the object.

Cross over the standing part.

Pass around the object again.

Tuck the working end under the crossing turn.

Dress and set.

Limitations

Can slip or work loose under changing, cyclic or poorly oriented loads.

Use a backup where failure would matter.
